To Commemorate one of the greatest Americans to have ever lived!

I've changed my avatar to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and will keep it there for the week.

Thank you Dr. King for the sacrifices you made to make this a better country.

While we may never eradicate the ignorance of racism and bigotry in this country, we have made great strides, and the election of President Obama, and I would add the upcoming re-election of President Obama, are indicative of a nation far from the activities and atrocities of the early 60's.

His ability to sell non-violence in a a tumultuous period still rings true today.

Wouldn't it be great if at the end of the day all you saw was MLK avatars?

was a young white girl and his speech gave such impact. I not only thought he was talking to the african-american community but he was talking to all the poor working people. It was such an amazing speech. What a sea of people there. Now even white america recognizes the good he did.

I hope I get old enough to years from now tell people about the great speech of the 2004 convention that then-Senator Obama gave. It gave me goosebumps and made my eyes water.

Perhaps one of those memorable speeches will be made today? I HOPE so

broken a barrier. How sad that in many ways the opposite has reared its ugly head in the republican party. No matter what the President has done the republican party will never give him the credit he deserves. History will be on his side. Generations to come will look back on this time period and wonder what in the hell went on. This period with the tea party will show the racist side of the republican party. No matter what they say that they are not racists their actions show different. Obama isn't a god. To me god put him in the right place at the right time in history. I can't think what would have happened with a President McCain or VP Palin. I thank god the country had enough sense to see that. I think Obama will get reelected unless the republicans manage to disenfranchised people from voting. But if he doesn't get reelected he will leave the white house with a high personal approval rating. His work isn't done.
