Thanks for post! Sounds like interesting article, pero was behind paywall...will search bc I'd like to know if even a penny of tax payer is used for her diva-esque needs and if donor monies are being funneled over for her personal use. She's a joke!

(90,189 posts)Her staffers are not supposed to be picking up the dry cleaning, shopping for groceries, or booking her massages. Its not just a waste of government time/money and an insulting imposition on their time as workers with an actual job to do and it is illegal.

The ability to keep water cold for 24 hours without sweating and spills has changed my relationship to water. I always have one nearby.

(9,422 posts)'Imperious' Ghislaine Maxwell handed out 58-page manual to staff who worked for Jeffrey Epstein that told them to refer to her as 'lady of the house,' stuff Epstein's car with $100 bills and 'see nothing, say nothing' of pedophile's activities
Staff were handed a 58-page 'Household Manual' - dated February 14, 2005 - filled with demands: 'Try and anticipate the needs of Mr. Epstein, Ms. Maxwell and their guests;' 'Do not discuss personal problems with guests;' 'Unobtrusive is the key;' 'SMILE!' and 'NEVER disclose Mr. Epstein or Ms. Maxwell's activities or whereabouts to anyone.'
One bullet on the checklist read: 'See nothing. Say nothing.'
In the master bedroom, staff were to ensure a gun was placed in a bedside table drawer, shutters were closed, and that reading glasses, eye masks and 'Jeffrey Epstein large and small notepads' were on both bedside tables.
This article has a copy of the manual that you can read and download. No scribd account needed.
"Kings and Queens" must be pampered. Unlike their "subjects".

(6,039 posts)It all sounds to me like the British ruling class rules for household servants.
I wonder how household staff in the White House are expected to act, or servants in very rich households
In Ms Maxwells case she ran the household for her boss. I would assume that these were Mr Epsteins rules.
When reading about Juan Alesia during the Maxwell trial I thought he was as disreputable as his employer and that the testimony being elicited about the elitist behavior was not very relevant to the criminal charges.
I have little first hand knowledge of how super rich expect their household staff to behave however. My information comes mainly from old PBS and BBC dramas.

(9,422 posts)I have no knowledge of servants or household workers other than what I gleaned from a few British programs (back when I watched TV) other than the fact that they are disrespected, a massive understatement.
I expect that the White House staff are civil servants, protected by labor laws.
As for the rich, don't get me started!

(1,996 posts)Beyonce? Good role model, talented, intelligent, care about others, gives back to society and a lot more good. Sinema? I don't see any sense in using space to fill a journal with all the bad about her. It would be a waste of time.

And we worked ordinary everyday people jobs, many had families and the dads in those families tended to be real family men.
