They are paranoid that someone is going to take their most valued possessions; money, guns, masculinity, bible, and the concept that all of the "other" people in the world are bad unless they are serving white folks. They are afraid that the bad people will make their children into gay atheists who hate Jesus. They are afraid of books, even if they never open one. They are scared to death that some of their tax money will go to poor people to buy welfare Cadillacs. The do not have the self confidence to compete in a multicultural world.

And then there are those at the top who are just in it for the money.

I am an aviation nut, this is one of my fave YouTube channels.

Listen to this pilot get angry at the "liberals" in California, and note when the announcer explains what the pilot means by "rolling coal."

If you are in a hurry, ff to the 4 minute mark.

manipulate and we have viciously brainwashed people:

"religion" that is against Jesus' message

preaching hate from the pulpit

preaching victimhood/we are better than you - from the pulpit

Radio/TV that receive big Republican money broadcast constant messages with the purpose of stimulating people's anger/victimhood against "liberals" - pure brainwashing

Racism, racism, racism, racism - this drives SO MUCH of the Republican force

and misogyny, of course.

The past 20-30 years of the rise of Rush Limbob types/FoX Entertainment demonstrates the ease people are brainwashed (so thoroughly, as we see, that it seems mostly permanent/unbreakable. This should be a crime. Research needs to be done on the damaging effects to our United States from these propaganda stations.

The answer is what it always has been. Education. Passing on what is learned from generation to generation.

Who knows how much longer it will take for humanity to evolve out of it's barbaric adolescence. There's a good chance we'll destroy the ecological system that sustains us all, before we can "grow up." And the Republican's opposition to climate change makes the survival of humanity even more problematic.

I live in the reddest of red areas of Indiana. Where Dems many times aren’t even on the ballot for local offices. So I interact with a lot of republicans and can comment with pretty good understanding.

From my experience, many in the GOP are raised on the belief that their beliefs are more than just political. They are taught that the world is out to get them. Christians are persecuted because prayer was taken out of school and 10 commandments monuments have been removed. The media, the education system, science and medicine, all pushing a liberal, global agenda that must be fought back against or they will be slaves to it. If you don’t fight back or believe like them you are viewed as sheep going along with the system to your slaughter. So they view themselves in a constant war and anyone that doesn’t see it like them is looked down on because they are sheep allowing it all to happen.

Many Republicans had parents (typically the father) who lorded authority over them, and/or who (typically the mother) played favorites with the other siblings - leaving them the short end of the stick.

Unless they make a conscious effort to process all that, such people often become authoritarians with a yen for unfairness and the arbitrary - i.e. Republicans.

They grow up wanting to see their childhood conditions recreated - but for everyone.

While we’re at it, you may as well lump every human trait that resembles altruism or empathy together and relegate that to the realm of pussified liberalism. All the characteristics is the asshole are worthy of emulation whenever possible. It’s bad enough that we’re fighting fascism, but now it’s cultural sociopathy. Sociopath Nation R Us.
