As aggravating as they can occasionally be, some folks are to be pitied fo their negativity.

These are those prone to picking nits, constructing strawmen or indignantly railing about "what the poster REALLY means to say".

How depressing it must be to be constantly "on the attack" even when surrounded by friends.

I always click on your posts because I am interested in your opinions, but if I disagree with your opinion I don't think any less of you.

I do see some nitpicking at times in posts but it is an open forum so that can happen. I wouldn't say people are "on the attack" they just see something differently. This is not meant to correct you, just my own thoughts on the matter.

But yes, positive is much better than negative and I too am grateful for friends on DU.

a continual text conversation. Their politics is not enough to end the friendship, but we are frank.
All the descriptions of whataboutisms, blame, lack of evidence etc. ring true. It is a petri dish of anthropological presence in history on display.
My most recent response compared a friend's reply on how the Jewish diaspora was asking when it is time to leave. I asked him from what political persuasion were the anti semites identified?
He blamed AOC. I told him he was to be pitied as much as the freerepublic responders to their inane posts.
It is in their genes.

Literally the amount of neurotransmitters allowing negative thoughts through keep a person from putting the brakes on those thoughts in order to change direction.

With the MAGA crowd, their negative thinking combined with the constant onslaught of fake news that tells them to be mad at someone else for their problems flips the circuit into rage so they don't feel there is anything wrong with them.
