Central Florida police officer savagely assaults 66yr old man suffering from dementia

http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/video-shows-officer-beating-66-year-old-man-suffer/nGMgh/

<snip>
In the video, Melbourne police Officer Derek Middendorf is shown giving Albert Flowers a front kick to his stomach.

Middendorf then punched Flowers repeatedly while he was on the ground.

In a report, Middendorf said Flowers walked towards him in an aggressive manner at a fast pace and he couldn't tell whether he had a knife in his hands.

Flowers' nephew, Garrick Flowers, said he yelled at the officer to stop and told him his uncle has dementia.

WARNING: the video is pretty brutal. Simply unbelievable. :

For example, placing your hands over your head as the police rain down blows upon you could be considered "resisting".

There is something wrong with that cop. Unless something else happened that the vid doesn't show, that cop should be fired and I'm pro LE.

.. but prosecuted criminally for Felony Assault, and False Imprisonment, then both he and the dept. he works for sued civilly for his clear violations of his victim's Civil Rights. Until bad cops and those that employ them are held accountable for their misdeeds, brutal police assaults on law-abiding citizens will continue.

this kind of thing seemed so unusual for police conduct. Now, I think the only thing unusual was that somebody had some pretty decent video recording equipment available in the right place to record it on video. Today, nearly everybody has that built into their cell phone, and consequently more and more of these things are being recorded.

many places are making it illegal to record cops. So instead of attempting to improve police conduct, they're just trying to make recording them illegal.
