Heard CNN interview of an R Rep this morning. ( Don Lemon run!) And they allowed her to spout about getting on with the "people's business like IRS"

(42,770 posts)with low/moderate income people that get audited and harassed, they're telling me they exist and that we've got to stop it. Must be true!!
The fact that trump never got audited and didn't pay taxes when he made millions, nope that has nothing to do with this!

(17,434 posts)There were a lot of children double and triple claimed. There were multiple people claiming that they were the one providing the largest support for a child.
The IRS started to hold those returns in order to check for these duplicates instead of crediting the first applicant.
The requests for proof of support were perceived as harassment and the delays of payment had these filers very angry.
I wonder if these angry filers have a clue what these politicians would like to do to the EIC.

(1,654 posts)Story was going around (to make it even worse). My brother who lives in another state commented on it on FB. I hope he accepted by correction of his post, but it's hard to tell. It can sometimes sound so reasonable (especially when most people don't seem to understand that funding covers spread out over multiple years) and it's a good thing if IRS gets funding to better audit rich people instead of going after those whose tax money is already taken out before they get their paychecks.
