(41,956 posts)Mississippi has the second highest Black population in the country? That it has some of the countrys finest writers, past and present? That there are distinct cultures, including the delta, the Piney Woods, and the coast/bayou cultures, which are heavily influenced by Spanish, French, Native American and Caribbean? That the ports and rivers provide a trade path for a large percentage of the goods coming into the country? That the seafood industry to a surprising degree is run by Southeast Asians who fled the Vietnam aftermath?
Dont get me wrong; MS government is a mess and there are many, many ultra conservatives (the dangerous ones are the educated, intelligent ones) but to call the OP Mississippi and to laugh and laugh does a huge injustice to many people.

(50,546 posts)...was the guy who said he wanted his president to be "family oriented."
This man voted for Donald Trump - quite possibly the LEAST "family oriented" president we've ever had, and who's had more affairs than I've had cats. (The number of cats I've had is quite impressive. I don't call my place "Jim's Home for Wayward Cats" for nothing.) He voted for Ronald Reagan, who's hated by at least one of his children and who had one divorce under his belt. He voted for George W. Bush, whose children were completely out of control the entire time he was in the White House. But he wouldn't vote for Barack Obama, who has a fine family, because he's a Democrat. He wouldn't vote for Bill Clinton, whose kid turned out well, because he's a Democrat.
Dude, if you want to vote for a "family oriented" president you need to vote Democratic. Every time.
