MULTIPLE PEDESTRIANS STRUCK, INJURED BY U-HAUL TRUCK IN BAY RIDGE, BROOKLYN

The suspect is a 62-year-old homeless man that may have been living in the U-Haul truck, according to police.
When they attempted to pull him over he told police that he wanted to die and fled the scene driving onto the sidewalk.
He struck multiple pedestrians at different locations in Bay Ridge near 5th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway by a U-Haul

As far as the driver goes, hell have to die in prison.

(6,862 posts)Women tend to take out their anger on themselves (not always, but in general). Men often feel the need to take it out on others. It's all about control with males (yeah, not all).

(73,333 posts)In the context of killing, you are correct. School shooters are overwhelmingly male. Yet, as both side's experts agreed in the recent Johnny Depp trial, the personality disorder most associated with violence between family members is borderline personality disorder, in which females make up about 75% of those diagnosed with it. There are many types of violence.
Perhaps rather than making this a battle of the sexes, we might benefit from focusing on the actual issue at hand in this case: a reportedly homeless individual suffering from mental illness.

(6,862 posts)Females (and males, for that matter) are overwhelmingly more likely to suffer from violence inflicted by men. OVERWHELMINGLY. Men are at least seven times more likely to be murderers than women.
We have a massive crisis in this country -- a male problem.

(73,333 posts)I agree that there is a very real problem with males being violent towards females. It's a giggle that you aren't thrilled with a " 'both sides' angle," as it was you -- and you alone -- who attempted to change the subject of the OP, and turn it into something different. I merely added context that corrected an error you made, then tried to re-focus the discussion on the issue the OP is about. It was about an unstable homeless human being, a topic that is worthy of a focused discussion without someone injecting other things into it.

(6,862 posts)How many stories do you hear about women who are angry and desperate and suicidal, and decide to take out a bunch of innocents before they kill themselves? I'm not saying it never happens, I'm just saying it's rare to hear that, and it's NOT rare to hear about a male doing that, like this guy did.

(73,333 posts)in the context of mass violence. But if we can agree on that, there is no serious justification for your taking offense at my putting the documented facts on violence into proper context.
