On January 31, family farmers will take part in the first phase of a court case filed to protect farmers from genetic trespass by Monsantos GMO seed, which contaminates organic and non-GMO farmers crops and opens them up to abusive lawsuits. In the past two decades, Monsantos seed monopoly has grown so powerful that they control the genetics of nearly 90% of five major commodity crops including corn, soybeans, cotton, canola and sugar beets.
In many cases farmers are forced to stop growing certain crops to avoid genetic contamination and potential lawsuits. Between 1997 and 2010, Monsanto admits to filing 144 lawsuits against Americas family farmers, while settling another 700 out of court for undisclosed amounts. Due to these aggressive lawsuits, Monsanto has created an atmosphere of fear in rural America and driven dozens of farmers into bankruptcy. Please join us in standing up for family farmers everywhere against Monsanto's abusive seed monopoly.

(94 posts)...... that at some point monsanto's seed, genetically altered to profit THEIR CHEMICALS, is going to fail because of evolutionary reality. At 90%, what will happen to the world's economy. I'm 60 they wereare a CHEMICAL co. 1% that has stolen food growing. ENOUGH!

The "mafia" as we call them are notorious for intimidating small farmers who don't have the financial resources to hold up in court against them. Have you seen Food Inc? There's a great story in there about the only small farmer guy who managed to win against Monsanto and probably a fluke. They are very, very powerful and ruthless. Their hazardous waste sites are notorious....
Here's a piece of trivia, did you know Clarence Thomas was an attorney for Monsanto?? Wonder who pulled the big (corporate) strings for his rise in stature....
