Let me guess. All books about Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Greek mythology, Wiccans, Sufis, and other non Christian-Judeo religions disappear from library shelves. Then might as well ban books about the labor movement too. Certainly don't want the kiddies reading the biographies of people they don't like. And do away with the whole anthopology section, because non-white, non-Christian, non-American cultures and customs aren't worth reading about anyway.
BTW, who are they to tell me what books my kids can't read? It's one thing for them to decide what their minor children can and can't read, but quite another to decide that for another parent. Is their book banning not an infringement on the rights of parents? They don't want their kids reading about FDR and Thurgood Marshall? OK. But don't decide that for my children.

The Colleges and Universities there would surely shut down.
Question asked of a Florida student...."What's your major?"
Florida Student...." Ugh God".
(I am being serious here. If this is the goal of Florida Lawmakers to ban everything and remake the Florida Education system, this is likely going to happen.)

Private businesses like independent Bookshops, Barnes & Noble, etc., cannot be bullied. The various topic sections of books are too numerous to go after.

(10,252 posts)If you don't want your children to read "Catcher in the Rye," then refuse to sign a school library permission document. Kids whose parents withhold library access permission, get to go to study hall and do their homework. Kids whose parents grant permission get to go to the library to read and check out books.

However the backlash will be Sunday morning anti-church sidewalk 'walks' under the signage, "Ban the Bible! It teaches hate"

I'll see if I can find any other 1950s McCarthy tactics that DeSantis would use.

This Christian pastor says women need to be pastored by men and that we live in a feminized culture, an effeminate a culture, a culture where men have been abdicated or been excluded, and all for the sake of the sensibilities of women.

(10,823 posts)Banning words, spoken or written, that do not perfectly match the authoritarian's handbook.
It's already begun with: With Don't Say Gay. Followed by Woke, Equity, Multiculturalism, Inclusivity, Sexism, Racism, White Supremacy, etc., etc.
Dictionaries will be very thin when it's over, language reduced to grunts.
Happy Days!
