"Shady Paul" Vallas Chicago's not-so-Democratic candidate for Mayor ... worse than I thought

So I kept getting emails from the app called Next Door. The emails contained teaser commentary about Vallas. I couldn’t read the full threads without signing up so I recently decided to. I found lots of “likes” and support for Vallas and lies about his opponent being “green”, “unqualified”, “taking bribes” . I signed in to the Gold Coast “neighborhood” -- Chicago’s most affluent, lakefront area so this was expected.

After responding to numerous out-the-ass comments, I did some research to support known issues like Vallas’ failing track record as an educator and administrator in Philadelphia, Louisiana and his multibillion-dollar mismanagement of the Chicago Teacher’s Union pension fund; and his endorsements and accomplishments being mostly from people 25-, 30- or 40 years ago. I found nothing that he’s accomplished especially any time recently. I also found nothing in the way of current endorsements that were not right wing.

I was surprised to learn about the following however. Vallas:

+ Opposes abortion
+ Supports efforts to suppress CRT
+ His son, a San Antonio police officer, was involved in the police killing of a Black man in 2022
+ Criticized Chicago school shutdowns during the pandemic
+ Encouraged bumpkin Republican Darren Bailey to run against Democratic Governor Pritzker
+ Called Pritzker a dictator for public safety efforts during the pandemic (Bailey sued Pritzker about the pandemic)
+ Worked as a consultant for the racist, insurrection-supporting, homophobic FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) to negotiate against Lightfoot and the City
+ He’s openly criticized Biden and Obama
+ Is connected to DeSantis through the FOP (he denounced the connection saying he was "disappointed" that the FOP invited a "right-wing extremist.”) He lies and walks back his actions and statements -- A LOT ....

+ Has numerous homophobic and racist offensive statements and tweets which he claims to be investigating or has apologized for or denounced:
+ calling Chicago defeated LGBTQ mayor “Larry” and a “gnome”
+ claiming former black police chief was a “diversity hire”
+ supporting "stop and frisk" – a controversial police tactic that allows police officers to stop and interrogate people because of "reasonable suspicion" – makes a city safer
+ Liking the tweet: "Just don't push that democratic agenda that the citizens of Chicago are tired of. You know defund this, reform that, color this, female that, we just want someone to do the job."

Oh BTW: I was just ousted off of the Next Door app for sharing this information. The same thing happened on FB during the TFG era.

It seems social media is all fine and dandy as long as people “mind their business” and dance. However, when people question the status quo social media censors that. I believe this is the same reason that TikTok is being targeted.

But in the meantime, please share and educate others when and where you can. The truth may not always have a vehicle like DU to get around.

The biggest thing this guy’s got going for him was the loss of Lightfoot. She had some good ideas, but was just so unpopular due to her harsh delivery..ppl saw her as caustic. The city unfortunately has a history of not thinking and rebounding to the other..and wrong one!
