The GOP has responded to DA Bragg's letter

They make 5 counter arguments which i have posted below, along with a link to the entire document.

Looks like these morons are in it for the long haul:

https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-03-25-jdj-bs-jc-to-bragg-re-subpoena-and-response.pdf

I. The Arguments in Defense of Your Unprecedented Prosecutorial Conduct Are
Conclusory and Unconvincing.

A. The Committees Are Authorized to Conduct Such an Inquiry

B. The Inquiry Is on a Matter on Which Legislation Could be Had

C. The Requests Are Pertinent to the Committees’ Inquiry

II. Your State Law-Based Defenses Are Insufficient.

III. The Inquiry Does Not Intrude on Federalism Powers Because Congress Is
Exercising Its Core Authority to Legislate

IV. The Inquiry Does Not Usurp Executive Powers

V. Your Offer to Provide Information About Your Office’s Use of Federal Funds Is
Insufficient

If Jordan and company want to have a repeat of the "well the only people that actually pressured social media to ban anybody were the rethugs" debacle then I guess they can have at it.

Bragg should answer any questions about political motivation with "you tell me. you are the ones saying this is politically motivated. why am i here?"

Notably, your reply letter did not dispute the central allegations at issue—that you, under
political pressure from left-wing activists and former prosecutors in your office, are reportedly
planning to use an alleged federal campaign finance violation, previously declined by federal
prosecutors, as a vehicle to extend the statute of limitations on an otherwise misdemeanor
offense and indict for the first time in history a former President of the United States.
Moreover,
you are apparently attempting to upgrade a misdemeanor charge to a felony using an untested
legal theory at the same time when you are simultaneously downgrading felony charges to
misdemeanors in a majority of other cases in your jurisdiction.

They are making shit up and thinking those tricksy werds will excite the base while owning the libs. Except, they only expose their intent to destroy democracy. It just shows that they are so power drunk that the euphoria is eating what few brain cells they actually had to begin with.

I refer to them as zombies sometimes because they are.

After all, Alan Weisselberg is locked up on something like 17 counts of criminal tax fraud. I’m thinking if the Stormy payment was deducted as a business expense, it violated New York state tax law, maybe

There are probably a few different laws broken where charges could be made between the two, Weisselberg and -45, in this case alone. That there are decades of probable lawlessness conducted between the two, I think a few weeks at Rykers is helping Weisselberg think a little more clearly about how he could end up and it isn't looking very good if he doesn't do something to save his own ass. That can only happen if he completely flips on his boss.

An earworm for Weisselberg...

Jim Jordan committee aides whine Alvin Bragg staffers keep hanging up on them

Staffers working for House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) are complaining that they are being treated rudely when they contact Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office which is currently investigating Donald Trump.

According to a report from the New York Post, an aide working for the powerful Republican Party-controlled committee whined about their treatment which has included hang-ups and blunt talk to stop calling.

Speaking with the Post, one unnamed aide claimed they made a call to Bragg's office "at noon on Wednesday [and] was promptly hung up on after he identified himself to a woman who answered the phone."

When they called back a second time, another staffer working for the Manhattan DA reportedly told them, "Your committee has no jurisdiction over us. You’re wrong. Stop calling us with this bulls—t,” with the GOP staffer complaining to the Post, "I don’t think I’ve ever seen any government entity respond to Congress in that manner. It’s quite embarrassing, but I don’t think anyone is surprised based on how partisan that office has become.”

Dear "Concerned" Menbers of Congress:

It has come to my attention that you have sent an eight page response to my letter in which I explained why I would not be participating in your attempt to intervene in my work as the duly elected district attorney of New York County. Please do not expect a further response from me. I have real work to do. You should try doing the same.
