Tricia Cotham switch to R. Heard she's sleeping with GOP House Speaker Tim Moore.

Have heard from several reliable Charlotte sources.

Apparently, it’s been going on for awhile now.

Also….Heard he’s trying to set her up with Dan Bishop’s congressional district IF he runs for Lt. Gov.

Hope the press uncovers this. This is truly disgusting.

I think the fraud was planned in advance. She was elected five months ago in a deep blue district. This was fraud, to get a Republican elected in a Democratic district. Now the Republican state legislature has a veto-proof majority.

I also think there's a lot of NRA money in North Carolina.

A person can't win an election by sleeping around, but a person would have to be very busy to make that work.

The part about him "trying to set her up" is an implication that she is switching parties (and do not mistake- I consider it a despicable move) because she can get ahead with repubs on her back more than merit.

I don't see any misogyny. It is a story of a representative who misrepresented herself to her constituents to get elected and may have a conflict of interests. It wouldn't matter whether that individual was a man or a woman, it was dishonest and unprincipled.

is that allegations of an affair is misogyny. If the representative had been a man and was thought to have had an affair with the speaker, it would not be called misogyny.

Questioning whether it is true is another matter, but I don't think any of us have the right to demand someone delete their thread. That said, I think BLM gave a reasonable explanation.

It is okay to disagree respectfully.

Cotham deserves criticism and contempt from any number of angles, but to slam her with unsourced, unsubstantiated gossip that she switched parties because of a sexual relationship with a Republican member is just plain wrong, regardless of whether the spreader of the gossip claims to have inside knowledge from local sources.

Think of the outrage if a similar claim were made against Biden, Obama, AOC, or any other Democrat, based on someone claiming to have been active in the same social circles as the individual being gossiped about.

Notice that nobody in the press is reporting this, because no one will go on the record, even anonymously , to confirm it. If the rumour is being spread here on DU, I’m sure somebody in the press has asked the question.

If the claim can be verified, then Cotham indeed deserves criticism about it. Until then, it’s just gossip, plain and simple.

She's a lifelong Democrat who was elected in a deep blue district five months ago, who suddenly switched parties, giving the Republicans a veto-proof majority.

Something is rotten and (1) we have the right to know what's going on and (2) we must make this very, very uncomfortable for her so that more politicians don't do this.

Republicans fight filthy dirty and we stand around wringing our hands and whining. Gloves off.
