You are right, he has no empathy at all. But he did have to live in a drafty chateau once, with bad toilet paper, so he has suffered in the past.

only pay about 12.5%, unless you add in FICA taxes too. Those in the 75th to 90th percentile pay an average of 9.29% in 2008. Add in FICA taxes at 7.65 and that is only 16.94%, not THAT much higher than 15%.
Myself, I will pay 0% in Federal Income taxes this year. One of the benefits of only making $15,000 and putting $2,000 in an IRA.
