I was in a discussion with an old Chinese man who had lived in Jamaica for over 60 years. He told me that he had not returned to China to visit relatives in over three decades because there were so many new words that didn't exist that he would be lost in his own language.

About 3 weeks ago I was talking to a lady from Vietnam. Her English was hard to understand, but she is such a sweet woman I just sat patiently and listened to her. She said that she hasn't been back to Vietnam in about 30 years and the last time she was there she could hardly understand the language anymore because so many words had changed. Then she burst out laughing when she said in broken English, "They can't understand me there and they can't understand me here either!"
