3,000 Chinese workers + 50,000 tons of Chinese steel: Dylan Ratigan on the SF Bay Bridge upgrade

Right now on the Dylan Ratigan Show.

Taxpayer-funded upgrade to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, 3,000 Chinese workers, 50,000 tons of Chinese steel, and the "savings" that were promised in the outsourcing proposal NEVER HAPPENED.

Fucking DISGUSTING.

13. Bay Bridge contraversy

Not....
The decision to outsource the fabrication of key sections of the Bay Bridge was made about five years ago (can you say during the Bush administration and no he did not have anything to do with the decision) , when a contractor offered alternate bids on the project, says Tony Anziano, a manager at the California Department of Transportation.

"One proposing to do work domestically, one proposing to do the work internationally: There was a $400 million differential in that bid, and in that case it would have required the work to go international," he says.

California avoided legal requirements to use domestic steel by not using federal funds for the job.

by Nick Rahall's discussion of the subject and passionate support for American steel. Nick is basically a good guy, a little on the conservative side (that's how you get elected in West Virginia). But rarely is he that articulate. Good job, Nicky Joe!

That was Ahhhhhhhnold's deal right there. He didn't want to spend the money on the bridge so they had to make some concessions as to cost. (And you know you can't argue with Rep that it will create jobs and taxes etc) it is all about the original cost...

It is going to be an amazing bridge however.

I'd prefer arrest and hanging but how often do I get what I want?
