blech...columbus is now at the easternmost edge of a multi state icky weather front going back into iowa, wisconsin, northern illinois, indiana and ohio. the weather service is calling for a quarter inch, so the power will do the going down thing again, but monday is supposed to be mid 40's. blech on sleet ice storms

(13,460 posts)My area has been hit with ice storms frequently in the past few years, dodging the bullet this time but they are disastrous, take care. The words "ice storm" just leave a nasty taste at this point.

(11,689 posts)Seems to me, that 30 years ago, ice storms tracked a lot further south, like from Oklahoma across the mid-South. But I must not be remembering correctly, because there is no such thing as climate change.

(32,917 posts)that i can recall was december 2004. it was out for a week. it was fricking cold.....pretty , but cold. we had to spend a few nights away with the fur posse.

(48,121 posts)She had just got home that week and the storm hit, we ran the generator for heat and some light. She went back in the hospital and never came back out.
That is one storm I will never forget.

(32,917 posts)which makes me happy and warm. from the living room window, the residential street is grey and white, cloudy skies, the dog and i will take a careful walk later, well wrapped. i've got coffee, bacon, flush toilet and power. life is pretty good right now.
