cross post from the lounge to GD because

...and (yes a slightly Canadian perspective to too) I thought that these are some of the Values that Dems share.

The Wolfman is gone, but his legacy is still alive in Democrats. Honestly.... could Republican's ever have invented Rock 'n' roll? I understand that Wolfman Jack didn't invent rock n' roll, but his pioneering spirit in broadcasting is something that is inherent to our love of open roads, un-dieing teenage spirit, and 'sticking it to the man'. Broadcasting at 50,000 watts of border blasting Boss Soul Power from XERB, the Wolfman helped originate, later on, what many of us came to know as late night radio; to get us through the night. Personally, for every Kowalski out there, (Vanishing Point), there is someone calling the tune, and he's on your side.

Ok, from a Canadian point of view, with the utmost of respect, cause back in the golden age of NON-programmed music.... he was a shinning star for radio that fought the conglomerate line. .... and: Kowalksi.... lets talk for what it's worth, if it worth anything. I understand, and a lone voice in the night is listening.

In high school, my best friend and I would try his call-in giveaways, and could never get through on the phone.

So we decided to drive to Pasadena, where he was broadcasting from, to find a phone closer to the station. We found one on a hill across from his station, called in--and won! Our prize was the Stones' album, 'High Tide and Green Grass'--which we picked up personally from the Wolfman, himself.

I'd love to be able to tell about what a great conversation we had, but there was none. We picked up the album and left.

From here in SoCal, we would travel far to the north and deep into Mexico in the south, and we were never out of range for 50,000 watts of soul power. All the surfrats listened while driving thru the night headed for good waves.....XERB radiating good vibes out of Chula Vista.
