Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsBeen watching the MSNBC coverage all day. Don't you think
the various talking heads are giving too much credence to the ya-hoos at the repug debates? Their reactions are always over the top. Remember them booing the gay soldier, yelling "let them die!", etc. ?
So what if they give a standing ovations to newty?
There just seems to be little to no recognition that the debate audiences and the people who will vote today are very far, far right and their reactions or opinions are outside the mainstream by a mile.
Anyway, I say go for it, repugs. Nominate Newt. Cause when he starts that &%%##@ with a non-handpicked audience, he's gonna fall flat on his face.

(8,556 posts)I was thinking about this yesterday. I noticed some parallels between Thursday's debate and the reaction to the OJ verdict in 1995.
At Johnny Cochran's memorial service, Al Sharpton said this:
'With all due respect, Mr. Simpson, we weren't cheering for you on that day. We were cheering for Johnny.'
And I think he had a point.
The debate audience wasn't cheering adultery or even Newt himself. They were cheering his standing up to what they perceive as a liberal media machine that works to discredit Republicans. It was more of an anti-MSM cheer than a pro-Newt cheer.
That's kind of what African-Americans were doing after the OJ verdict. Most black people knew he was guilty. Anybody with half a brain could see that. They weren't cheering murder or even OJ himself. They were cheering him and his team (especially Cochran) beating a judicial system that they see as stacked against them.
