GOP primary turnout is 98% white (in a state where 28% of registered voters are black)

Courtesy of Sullivan’s liveblog, an eye-splitter of a poll number: the GOP primary turnout is 99% white. That’s in a state where 28% of registered voters are black.

CHECK THIS OUT:
8.11 pm. In a state where African-Americans make up 28 percent of the electorate and 1 percent of the voters in the primary today. That's him above. But what an indictment of a party that in a diverse state, 99 percent of the voters were white.

to the mid 2000s. Since 1964, when conservative Southern white Dixiecrats and Republicans voted almost in bloc against the Civil Rights Act, African-Americans have always voted Democrat by over 90%. 76% of Asians polled voted for Obama. 68% of Hispanics did. Doesn't look good for Rethugs this year or the future with minority voters. In a country that will be almost a third minority, biracial or multi-racial within 30 years, they'd better learn how to tone down on the race-baiting. But, until this teabagger generation dies out in another fifteen years or so, I don't see it happening. Oh! On a side note, this year's crop of losers doesn't poll well with women either, especially Newt.

They certainly exist, but they're very much in the minority. I'm sure pretty much all South Carolinian DUers have experienced that awkward "do I say anything or do I keep quiet?" moment when a casual acquaintance just *assumes* that you're a racist TeapubliKKKan like them and all their buddies.

Fox News is the most irresponsible, un-ethical, brazenly biased news channel of all the major television news networks. Everyone with a functioning brain capable of critical thought knows this. Fox News is a mix of facts, half-truths, distortions, smears, and outright lies. An intelligent person can distinguish the difference. There is nothing wrong with linking to a Fox News source, or any source for that matter. We (liberals, progressives, Democrats, etc.) are capable of considering the credibility of the source and making rational judgments.

is unrealistic. DU is made up of individuals with myriad different views. And anyway, moving the discussion from something real and specific, i.e. the real action of a named person, KPete, to a formless condemnation of a fictional, impersonal, generalized opponent is vague to the point of uselessness.

What are you proposing? That unless everyone on DU stops commenting on their lack of interest in Fox News and their decision not to watch, or follow Fox News, that somehow KPete is bound to refrain from linking to Fox?

I'm confused by your point, and I don't want to put words into your mouth, so please clarify, if you wish.

I'll speak for myself, thank you. And speaking for myself, your proposition regarding a hypothetical and unnamed person posting a hypothetical message about blue raccoon shit is, frankly speaking, rubbish. And your self-congratulatory affirmation "You know it's true" is a false presumption.

Your point, stripped of the silliness, would seem to be your observation that some DU members (not otherwise specified) are, in your view, sycophants, and that KPete and/or other DU members (not otherwise specified) are somehow obligated to not link to Fox, owing to the fact that some other DU members (not otherwise specified) have expressed a disdain for watching or reading any material from Fox.

I've twisted my head too much trying to understand this. Explain this to me more clearly, if you wish, otherwise, continue your quest to be a voice for group consistency at DU. Good luck with that.

Just another reason not to even have a primary. They are just a waste of time. All the hype,,,,,,,,, FOR NOTHING!!! It means nothing if it cannot reflect accurate numbers. Slanted numbers are useless. The only thing accomplished is we found out there is yet, a different winner. Let's see, 3 states, 3 different people. The GOP is a friggin mess. I'll say it again. Whatever GOP failure they come up with, they will NEVER beat Obama.
