Girl Scout Troops Banned from Va. Church/NBC (Because of affiliation with Planned Parenthood)

Looks like Mother Church wants more mothers.

http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Girl-Scout-Troops-Banned-from-Church-137815843.html

Several Girl Scout troops in Chantilly, Virginia have been banned from meeting at a local Catholic church and a neighboring school.

St. Timothy Catholic Church says that scouts won’t be allowed to meet or wear their uniforms on church property. The edict also applies to the adjacent St. Timothy School, which enrolls students from preschool to eighth grade.

The decision stems from what the church calls an affiliation with Planned Parenthood by the Girl Scouts parent organization, The World Association of Girl Guides.

A spokesman for the diocese released a statement that says in part: “Every pastor in the diocese has the responsibility to determine how best to use their parish facilities, consider the requests of outside groups, and reconcile such requests with the needs and mission of their parish community.”

The regional girl scouts council says it will make sure the troops affected can find a new home.

The Washington Times published an Op Ed piece by a Family Research Council staffer critical of the Girl Scouts stand on transgendered, gays, birth control, abortions, etc.

They should publish troops numbers so we can buy cookies.

I grew up in va. Also a troop leader in nm and have daughters. Children should hear all sides or not be involved in such closed-minded decisions. Girl scouts has a higher purpose ... I am concerned for today's children. Also for the state of va. Next election will be so important. Geez it's like we went back 75 years or so!

every Sunday. There are a lot of groups including a food pantry and other charitable groups. There are social groups and devotional groups. My guess is that the pastor is hung up on birth control and/or is angling for a bishop's miter. Most parishioners are probably content to ignore him on this, but they may get angry now that he's kicked their daughters out.

between it and its own members. It's no wonder that churches and parochial schools are closing all around the country.

That is what my daughter's Brownie troop did when they couldn't meet in the school, and the Non-Christian mothers (everyone is Christian???), didn't want to meet in the basement of a nearby Christian church.

Actually, it was very nice doing this. Very homey and made it more personal.
