I was patted down last time I was leaving the US a few months ago. I'd forgotten to remove a belt which has a metal buckle; the mostake was mine. I was back on my way within a minute or two at the most, and I didn't find it an epically intrusive situation.

Arresting or detaining a senator or congressional representative while they are on their way to a legislative session is generally not allowed, but I haven't looked at case law on the topic.

Ron Paul has likely been thinking, "Not enough controversy? Make one!" Tanking in the polls? Why, just create a controversy around a subject that is controversial.

And had my shoes swiped and tested for whatever while my luggage is gone through and the rest of the passengers look at me like I'm a criminal and wonder why I'm holding up their flight.

It was very humiliating.

Because he is a sitting Federal elected official, and the session is active. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This is one reason why that little weasel Joe Walsh is getting away with not paying child support or appearing in court to be ordered to.

"A TSA official said Paul was "not detained at any point" and left the checkpoint willingly. The official was not authorized to speak for attribution.

Soule noted that Paul was eventually re-booked on another flight and re-screened without incident."

So to sum it up - Rand Paul threw a temper tantrum. Daddy's tweets about son being "detained", and well.. it's not exactly true.
