You neglect to mention that the estate tax was at 1 mil. That's a pretty big hit if you ask me. oxymoron Jan 2013 #17

There are tax increases in the plan, Republicans didn't want any at all and they hardly got all the cuts they wanted.

That was a huge giveaway to the rich. Not to mention the raising the tax exemption to $450k. It's a lame bill and we should have held out. We had the fucking American people on our side.

Fuck the estate tax. It's stupid. It doesn't work because you've got to be a fucking moron to actually end up paying estate taxes; there are so many legal and recommended ways to dodge the estate tax that not dodging the estate tax is a sure sign of a feeble mind.

Nobody who deserves to pay the estate tax...pays the estate tax. It primarily hits those who have slightly over the threshhold in non-protectable assets (eg. small business owners), those that came into money soon before their own death and those who lack the savvy to get good financial planning.

The Romneys of the world don't pay estate taxes. They pay people like my friend, Steve, to help them set up trusts, estate plans, bequeathments and other financial vehicles to insure the orderly transfer of wealth with minimal taxation. Not only is this allowable, it's encouraged by the tax-code and the IRS tells you in their own publications to consult a tax-professional or financial representation for this explicit reason.

So we get :

Tax rates go up 400k for singles.. 450k for married couples TO 39.6
UE extension (i have family members that are oow.. I guarantee you the repukes would have let those go for months and what about those people ... they would be fucked!!)
Estate tax rates go to 40 percent (5 mil exemption)
All the stimulis tax credits (except the payroll tax-cut.. but that essentially preserves SSI)

So we have got all revenue and no spending cuts? Not perfect but we get 80% of what we want and people are whining? Unfortunately they control the freakin house!!! It ain't a perfect world.. but things are moving in the right direction.. shit I remember when these assholes wouldn't even pass a million dollar tax threshold..

You heard the President.. if the REpubs think they are going to get only spending cuts and no tax revenue to offset in future negotiations they are mistaken.. Our Pres is not perfect.. but he is not a caver.. Thank god R/R did not win otherwise you would be looking at cuts accross the board in spending (ie SSI and Medicare would be voucherized) more tax cuts for the rich and more reckless wars...Life ain't perfect .. now lets get this debt ceiling done and the sequestration done and move on to fixing immigration and at least getting a 30 round magazine ban started and move on to a tougher assault ban.. we are winning on all fronts... ! Its not perfect .. but who is .. really...This is the most progressive our country has ever been in decades.. things don't happen over-night!!

Not to mention that it's 12:24 am in 2013 and we already have a broken campaign promise from the President. He campaigned and was elected on raising taxes for people over 250k. He had a fucking mandate and the Dems didn't use it. Why the hell couldn't we have gone over the cliff for a few days? We would have got a much better deal in the next few days.
