Homicide rate down in the DC area
Interesting article today in the Washington Post. The homicide rate in the DC area (DC and Prince Georges County) has gone down for a variety of reasons, one reason being that thousands of guns have been seized.
Police point to several reasons for the decrease, which has been part of a years-long national trend in some major cities across the country. Authorities have broken up dozens of violent gangs, seized thousands of guns, used technology to monitor the streets and directed additional resources to high-crime areas.

Looks pretty simple, you remove/seize the guns, you remove a good portion of the violence and the deaths. The article pretty much points that out. Of course that goes hand in hand with other measures as the article pointed out.
Let the flames fly. Just an FYI, I target and skeet shoot but don't personally own a gun. I won't keep one in the house. Of course I'm not advocating taking every responsible gun owner's gun but thinning out the herd will reduce how many people we plant in the ground each year. The article pretty much proves that.
