Stinky The Clown

(67,792 posts)
Tue Jan 1, 2013, 10:40 PM Jan 2013

Tim Russert's kid really bothers me.

He is younger than my youngest kid. He is an entitled smart-ass and that comes across loud and clear. Getting straight news from him is, I suppose, tolerable. Having him give his "opinion" to some other moron teevee host is worthless bullshit. Having him "explain" things as if he were knowledgable is insulting to anyone who watches MSNBC (who is likely more informed that he is.)

Listening to him prattle on as MSNBC's Cliff Watch continues is painful.

Anybody looking to mainstream media for real journalism is going to have to wade through a lot of shit before finding a morsel or two of actual journalism. That's just not practiced anymore, if it ever was to any high degree.

TV is about ratings. Profit trumps ... well, everything. Always follow the money.

When he comes on I have to either fast-forward or change the channel. He reminds of a 12 year old who gets to sit at the adult's table and tries to act like a grown up. You can tell he practices in front of the mirror to look more serious and authoritative. He does this funny little thing with his eye brows and it is so goofy.

He looks like a SNL sketch of an inexperienced, privileged son of a famous television personality. I'm afraid this kid will NEVER be ready for prime time. If he wants to be a journalist, maybe he needs to go out in the world and earn the right to be in front of a camera. I wonder what his more experienced colleagues say about him behind his back.

At first I thought it was because SNL is on NBC but they've made fun of Al Sharpton and Rachel Maddow.

Maybe The Daily Show will do a bit about him. This is LONG overdue.

I don't do the cute-in-the-face frat boy/sorority girl look or take it seriously when getting my news.

I prefer reporters to be hardened, experienced, grey in the temples and curmudgeonly.

These people are NOT his peers. A little deference to his more experienced and knowledgeable co-workers would be appropriate. The fact that he has the same gig as the very professional Kelly O'Donnell on the hill is mind-boggling.

I can't believe they keep letting him guest host as if there is a chance some day he might have his own show!

65. Why are you watching M$NBC in the first place?
Wed Jan 2, 2013, 11:13 AM
Jan 2013

Do you want your news filtered by the Comcast corporation by a bunch of blow-dried Beltway hacks? There are plenty of independent news sources out there.

M$NBC is not liberal -- they are corporate. There's a big difference.

I have no doubt that he loved his father dearly and wants to someday wear his shoes. His father was a hard act to follow.

This kid has a lot of growing and living to do before I can take him seriously.

His twitter account is @LukeRussert

If you direct your comments to him and want his followers know how he screwed up use a period in front of his account name like this .@LukeRussert

You can also go with a hash tag as such #LukeRussert

You can also include @msnbc so his bosses know what the hell he is doing wrong. You can have more than one twitter account name included in a tweet.

He's in over his head. It is painful. He'll never grow because
he'll never be forced to figure anything out, never raise his
standards. Sad. NBC should have given him an 18 month
internship.

Peter Jennings was a laughing stock in the mid-60s as anchor.
Only there because of his famous Canadian broadcasting father.
He had to go out and do hard news for years before returning
to a triumphant career.

I think that is the way Peter Jennings finally earned his reporting credentials.. Jennings was stationed in the Middle East for quite some time.
