(62,683 posts)And I agree that many times it's just posturing (I give some people slack, like Bernie, e.g.) I also think Harking voted Nay in the Senate because he truly believed it wasn't a good bill (and he knew it would pass w/o his vote).
Observations from the sidelines.

(3,261 posts)Yes, Nancy did a better job in general and managed to get them where she needed faster but Boehner has done the best the could be hoped for - just enough GOP votes for passage. Those votes are completely strategic, of course, and I'm sure the GOP'ers in most danger of losing re-election (or with more on the line given future prospects) were allowed to vote "no".

(7,820 posts)For being willing to bring this to the floor without a majority of Republicans, knowing there were enough Dem votes to pass it. But IMO this was a revolt within his caucus, and Cantor is fomenting it because he wants the Speaker job. It's not just this vote, look at how Boehner's plan B vote went down.
