I am glad that Chris Christie is making a stand for the devastation that Sandy brought to the East Coast. I am glad that he is, in your face angry, that Congress has not acted ,and that they are withholding a vote on the bill for relief!

New Jersey and New York both suffered greatly. It is despicable that aid is being withheld. It is despicable when it is withheld in any disaster. Man made or not. However read the quotes below. Let them sink in for a minute...

My compassion and empathy for these states aside, I object to some of what Christie is saying. He only speaks of the of the suffering of his state.

I ask Mr. Christie, when he states:

Mr Christie is outraged at the total disregard that this Congress has shown the helpless victims of his state. He is correct in that outrage.

However, where was Mr Christie's outrage when congress was denying benefits to the unemployed. Where was the outrage when jobs bills were denied to help the working class. Where was the outrage when they tried to dismantle The Health Care Bill, veto VAWA, denied Women's rights, when your party was vocalizing the most obscene despicable comments imaginable about Women forcing legislation against the rights of our Women,Gay rights,Force Seniors and the disappearing middle class to pay more. Pay so that the millionaires and billionaires could continue to reap in obscene amounts of money!

So I ask you Mr. Christie..."when your party failed the most basic test of public service""...that 'There is only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims"..."This is not a Republican or Democratic issue." when you said this, were you only thinking of New Jersey!

Where were you for the American People. This Nation. Where were you when your party left this country behind.

You want politics to be put aside so that your state can be helped? I ask your party to put it aside for the sake of this Nation! You get as good as you give Mr. Christie. Think about it. Let it sink in. This is the party that you support. You built this. Do not cry when it bites you in the ass!

5. I can't really buy the more tolerable bit. Am I glad that he is concerned about his state, sure.

However it is his Party that has brought us here. Their votes, their ideals.They buit this. They do reap what they sow!

2. Maybe Christie is beginning to see that ugly republican policy positions

actually hurt people. Who knows? People can change.
Christie has lately had to recognize that Obama, a man who he had been critical of, was governing for all the people not just those who voted for him. I think this impressed Christie (since it is not really a republican priority). Then Obama arranged for Springsteen to meet with Christie, an event which brought the governor to tears.
Who knows what influence these moments might have had on the governor?
Watching the members of his own party deny citizens much needed aid clearly infuriated Christie, as it should have. I'd bet these last couple of months have been real eyeopeners for him.
He may not publicly change his party affiliation or condemn conservative ideas but I have no doubt he has had to rethink some of the attitudes associated with being a republican in power.

8. You are both probably right, as it seems clear, that he had no

problem associating himself with the republican world view just a few months ago but even if Christie isn't reformed by these events (and the whole republican debacle surrounding the Romney campaign) other republicans will be. Some, and I bet many, of those, who entered the last election season as republicans, are now calling themselves independent. They are prodigal Americans and we need to welcome them back from the pit of hell.
And if we can keep our leader from giving away our safety net we may attract some newly independent voters to the democratic side.

I am in complete agreement there. There is no excuse for the republicans in congress to block that money. They are criminal, in my opinion.
I have not been impressed by Christie in the past and I won't be surprised if he turns out to be the hypocritical dick-head you see.
So I'll stop defending him. But there will be people leaving that party and our party is the only place for them to go. Democrats have always had strange bedfellows.

Gov Christy's part. If he's been paying attention at all to the Koch tea party in the House this would only be expected from them.

I'm glad he's speaking out on New Jersey's need for Aid from Sandy's Devastation.. but, of course, he would be upset about it.. it's his state and if help is slowed down it reflects on him and the economy of New Jersey. It's cynical but, as you've pointed out so well, she, he doesn't speak out about any other Disgusting non-action of theirs.

Imagine what would be happening if mittLies had gotten in for next year.. Don't even have any natural disasters. mitt would be having a national freaking Can Drive.
