"SNIP...............................................
But it didnt happen. Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s.
Even hapless Herbert Hoover managed to increase spending more than Obama has.
Here are the facts, according to the official government statistics:
In the 2009 fiscal year the last of George W. Bushs presidency federal spending rose by 17.9% from $2.98 trillion to $3.52 trillion. Check the official numbers at the Office of Management and Budget.

(128,702 posts)has been posted over the years showing that the biggest taxers, borrowers, and spenders are the GOP... and the Democrats are the ones ultimately left to clean up the mess after rethugs project their own habits onto them and the media aids and abets the projection.

(118,577 posts)blame the GOP for anything they haven't done, and they don't do that enough. They say when looking for the perpetrator you look at the geography/territory that is actually crossed. The GOP are all over the democrats existance. They are the creeps.

(6,234 posts)They incorrectly view the incredible 2009 deficits as Obama's first year, not understanding that this was inherited spending. I have linked more people to the January 2009 CBO report (Obviously before Obama had even taken office) than I can count, and it doesn't matter. They believe what they want to believe.

(32 posts)I love some of the responses to the article at the Market Watch site.
Like: "This article is way off base. Obama's stimulus packages did not work."
Umm, the article is not about whether Obama's stimulus packages worked or not.
And this one is just confusing: "Spending more than you take in is still spending, no matter how you want to reword it."
The article did not try to "reword spending". The article was not about spending vs how much you take in.
But here is the doozy: "So, in even using your article here, it is a proven (and graphically-portrayed) fact that:
**Obama has handily spent more money in any given year of his presidency than any other single year of any prior president's terms in history. And he's done that FOUR STRAIGHT YEARS.***"
Yes, that is true about Obama. But it's also true about every president except George Washington! Man, some people are dumb!

(16,230 posts)Well okay, they are dumb, just not for the reasons you're saying. They're paid trolls who make money by spreading talking points. Even when those talking points aren't really relevant they still serve the purpose of disrupting the conversation and confusing readers.

(10,597 posts)May 22, 2012. Well, that's a report that went nowhere. Here's the way the wingers come up with a fact: They repeat it three times, and whammo, instant fact! Reality has nothing to do with fact in a wingers mind. I swear, those people are walking-around-crazy.
