Grover Norquists' predictions.

About two years ago he started laying out the way for republicans to make all the bush tax cuts permanent.

His basic prediction was that after the 2010 republican blowout, obviously america agreed with the gop and backed them so what was going to happen in his mind was that in 2012 the republicans were going to take back the white house and they were going to take back the senate and end up with like 53 seats. Not enough yet to steamroll in a gop agenda.

So the next couple years the gop controls everything but not a filibuster proof majority and the country loves how they are running things so well that the gop picks up another 7 seats or so in the senate in 2014.

This gives the gop two years with 60 seats to make all kinds of sweeping changes to the tax code.

This was norquists wet dream. Thank god the voters stepped all over it.

I doubt he has the character it takes though to feel like a total dumbass who just got rejected.
