Malden Mayor Gary Christenson on Wednesday touted Democratic Senate candidate Edward Markeys presence in Malden, after Republican Scott Brown raised questions about Markeys residence in the city.
"Ed Markey is very much a presence in Malden as evidenced by his leadership in securing funds for our downtown renovation and helping to bring a $51 million baseball park to our city, Christenson, a Democrat, said in a statement emailed out from his mayoral office.
When hes not racking up legislative accomplishments, Ed can be found at the YMCA shooting hoops, at our fabulous restaurants on Saturday nights, or at community events throughout the year, Christenson said. He has long been a true champion for the City of Malden and as Mayor, I am proud that a national leader of Ed Markey's stature calls Malden home."

(34,163 posts)Obviously he was in DC for long stretches of time, but every couple of weeks he and his staff would pull up in the limos on the weekend for what appeared to be Saturday or Sunday night dinner and sometimes stay overnight.
Honestly, my first thought was that they were mob because no one drove those cars or dressed in nice suits on Townsend, but then I saw it was Markey's residence and it was all clear to me.
Going after Markey's residence is really stupid.

He needs to shut his mouth, otherwise we'll want to see Gail's tax returns, to see what state she's declaring as her home of residence!

(11,304 posts)Here in TN we has us one of them truck pickup guys. Remember he was the actor that thought that just being an actor he could throw his hat into the presidential race back in 08. He drove up in his old pickup truck to where his rallies were. Then when it was over he'd drive that truck a few blocks away and he get in one of those fancy black SUVs and drive off. What a joke.

I think he needs to go back to the occasional part time job of closing on real estate in his garage while his wife brings home the mortgage payment and "big bills" cash--that's assuming she can get her job back in Boston.
He doesn't need to take money from the people for doing nothing any more. The guy is just worthless, on top of being a scuzzy campaigner.

(53,947 posts)For two generations there was only one Senate seat for them to fight over and half the time the state, against all common sense, elected Republican governors. Probably for the same reasons New York hasn't elected a Democratic mayor since the mid-1990s. And think about all those Bay State pols inspired by the Kennedys, each of them witty and clever and yearning to do some liberal good in the world--and the state goes and elects a Republican senator. No sooner do yall get that straightened out, and suddenly you have another special election barreling down on you with that same old pretty boy con artist trying to monkey up the works.
So here's Ed Markey, at 66 years old, finally getting the career chance of a lifetime. Had he been from any other state, he'd've been a senator long long ago. I'm from Texas, but I've been following politics for over 40 years and I know who Ed Markey is. I remember him railing against the Contras and that star wars boondoggle. If he gets the honor, he won't have a long career in the Senate like his hero Ted Kennedy has. But he's a man of gravitas and he's a man of parts. He knows the job, probably better than anyone else could. But I guess in a democracy, you don't get to "deserve" any office; you have to earn it.
