Any sentence containing the words "Tom Delay" and "prison" need some discussion, I think.

Some stories I've read online are written such that one could infer he is on his way to the hoosegow any second now. He is not.

Here are the facts:

In late 2005 he was accused of conspiracy to commit money laundering, indicted, arrested, booked, and kicked loose on $10K bail. This is the source of that smiling mug shot many of you have seen. In late 2010 he was found guilty of the charges by a jury in Austin, TX. A few months later he was given a three year sentence and ten years of probation. He immediately filed an appeal. He remains free on bail pending the resolution of that appeal.

I have no idea why all these posts are coming up as if there is news. There isn't.

By the way, I will celebrate his remanding to custody, the indignity of the body cavity search, and his dehumanization by having his name replaced by a multidigit number. I wish his sentence were far longer. He is about the same age as me. If he never gets to see his house and bed again, that would be fitting.

After reading your post, I did some googling, and every recent article I can find claiming that he's going to prison leads back to an old Huffington Post article from 2011. It appears that you're correct and there's no new news on this.

I think what must have happened is that someone stumbled on the old article, didn't look at the date, thought it was recent news, and blogged about it. Others read their blog and wrote articles echoing the misunderstanding.
