I love love this family.

Last night I was hanging out with 2 of my grown kids & said
"I have a confession."

My confession was that often, OFTEN, when I'm confronted
with something that needs to be done, and it seems too hard,
or too much trouble, I remember "yes we can!" -- just those
simple words, and the man who raised the bar for us all --
and then I can do it, whatever it is. It's true! I'm not
ashamed..

One of them replied, slightly embarrassed but earnestly,
that when confronted with a difficult choice, or something
hard that must be done, she thinks of Michelle and Barack
Obama & imagines what they would do -- she is motivated
by the standard of excellence & goodness they continue to set.

I think millions of people around the world are having
similar symptoms. I think mostly of the children, especially
young children of color. What an example this family
is, and has been -- and I believe will always be -- for reaching
high, striving well, being fair, believing in our own
impossible dreams, being way stronger and better than
any of us realize. I LOVE this family and this president.

. . . what an inspiring anecdote from you and your family.

Policy differences aside, we are all better individuals for electing Barack Obama president. His family has certainly been a refreshing reflection of what we would like to experience in our own lives. I LOVE knowing that there are real-world examples of that influence.

I don't agree with him on everything, or think he's a god,
or anything even close. But I see authentic integrity, and
that's a LOT. Authentic integrity. There are plenty of
integrity-posers in DC, but this family is not among them.
