Quote from Hardball Is Making Me Reach for My Tinfoil Hat...

First a disclaimer - I am home with the flu so my thinking might be flawed due to exhaustion and dehydration. Tonight, Chris Matthews discussed gun control and Alex Jones and mused this statement, "It's getting so you're scared to go to the mall, the grocery store, church, school, the movies..." I guess I never thought about all the places spree shootings have happened in the past 10 years. Heavens, the post office used to be the one place where you would think about spree shootings. I'm sure there's nothing to these horrendous acts happening at the very places middle America frequents on a daily basis, or is there?

Another thing has me scratching my head now that I'm thinking of these shootings. Why would Adam Lanza (Newtown) wear a mask, bullet proof vest, destroy his hard disk drive in one of the only ways to really destroy it (besides dropping it in a body of water after smashing it) if he was going to commit suicide? He shot himself in the face so his features were obliterated, correct? All of this just has me wondering... But I'm sure there's nothing really odd about dressing up in commando style gear... I think I need to get some more water.

Oh, and one more disclaimer. I am pro gun control and I have never fired a gun. I have two work friends who have uncles that own 600 guns between the two men. To me, this is insane but they call themselves preppers which (to me) conjured up scenes of Izods and boat shoes, but I digress.

chances of anything happening to you are slim. Lanza and guys like him wear those get ups because it's what they see in movies and magazines. They are living out a twisted fantasy.

why we need to INCREASE the number of places one can carry a gun. I mean, stadiums, workplaces, etc. We are so far removed for anarchic lawless states like Somalia and some parts of Africa, I can't for the life of me understand why people are so afraid that we have to have the right to tote guns almost everywhere. Sure, some neighborhoods blighted by gang violence might be an exception but that doesn't seem to be what most people are talking about when talking about expanding gun rights for personal protection.

has become such an absolute principle that nobody even questions WHY we need to have them everywhere- at the mall, the stadium, a Kenny G concert, a school, at your workplace, etc. It seems as though just having a right to do something is its own justification for doing it. I'm sorry but I don't want to live in the OK Corral where just about everybody around me is carrying- concealed or not. If anybody is THAT scared for their lives and absolutely need a gun for to ensure their safety at all time and everywhere they go, then I'd say that they seriously need to re-evaluate their lifestyle, place of residence, etc.

I was just wondering why he would bother with the costume if suicide was the end goal... ALSO, the nurse was talking to me today while I waited for my doctor and she had some conspiracy theory her husband told her regarding these recent shootings. I heard from her that the Newtown killer wore a vest. So, after Chris Matthews comment, my mind started to wander.

I am in the midwest surrounded by very frightened people who peruse Fox News daily, which explains their fright. Sorry for not writing and following up earlier, my friends came by with taco soup. So, thanks, I think I am on the mend.

Friendly Fire by the gunnies?

the nra is a terrorist like organizaiton and those disciples are similiar to David Koresh and Waco, who were stockpiling guns and killing federal agents.

Is that what you are saying?

I actually hadn't thought of that. I don't think they are THAT strategic. If they were, their fearless leader wouldn't have made a laughing stock of himself in his presser and Sunday appearance.

I don't know what to think, honestly, but something is nagging at me about these killings... Yes, why hasn't anyone advocating arming people mentioned arming post offices? Because that would reveal how crazy arming everyone is.

Your mention of shootings in the past at post offices made me think.

Actually it has been many years since we have had one of those infamous "going postal" slaughters, right?

What changed?

Did the post office decide that all of its employees would be armed?
I haven't noticed the people working at the post office or delivering my mail carrying Glocks ... but maybe they are.

Or, did the post office do something else to make their work place safer?
