Meg Whitman could get more than $15 million for her first year as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, according to company filings.
It's a big payday even by the lofty standards of big-time CEOs. The chief executives of major public companies made a median of $9.6 million in 2011, the most recent year available, according to executive pay research firm Equilar.

I get your point about the board but I just think that is too much money for a CEO.

The HP board can choose to compensate their people in any way they see fit.

Yes they have the right to pay her that much, but it is too damn much in my opinion. I say tax her 50%. She doesn't need all that money.

What's the point in that? The board will probably double her compensation. Remember, much of this is stock options. If the stock doesn't perform she doesn't get much.

Is there REALLY a difference between any of the PCs on the shelf? Not talking about Alienware or other specialty machines, but the boxes you find at places like Staples.
