Why not just send an unmanned drone to go kill all the deer for you?

A $17,000 Linux-Powered, Auto-Aiming Hunting Rifle

This is a .338 Lapua Magnum rifle outfitted with a Linux-powered TrackingPoint XS1 system, an advanced computerized scope that takes all the guesswork out of shooting animals in the woods. Sport, LOL. Why not just send an unmanned drone to go kill all the deer for you?

The image displayed on the scope isn't a direct visual, but rather a video image taken through the scope's objective lens. The Linux-powered scope produces a display that looks something like the heads-up display you'd see sitting in the cockpit of a fighter jet, showing the weapon's compass orientation, cant, and incline. To shoot at something, you first "mark" it using a button near the trigger. Marking a target illuminates it with the tracking scope's built-in laser, and the target gains a pip in the scope's display. When a target is marked, the tracking scope takes into account the range of the target, the ambient temperature and humidity, the age of the barrel, and a whole boatload of other parameters. It quickly reorients the display so the crosshairs in the center accurately show where the round will go.

3. When paired with food plots, mineral/salt licks and flat out piles of corn/apples...

You'll be back to the shack grillin' up in no time!

I really despise the 'hunters/sportsfolk' who plant food plots and place mineral licks out.

That's not hunting; that's a bloodbath.

Food is food. The less calories humans burn getting it, the less deer they need to kill.

BTW, Im not a hunter. I've never even heard of this practice before so I've never thought it out.

I got it all. My point is: less calories it takes to harvest calories, the less harvesting one needs to do.

Are you concerned about the impact on the ecosystem or ethics?

12. The ethics of food plots...

It sounds like we are on the same page on this one, just one is further down the page than the other.

Food plots are a horribly unethical manner in harvesting deer, imo.

Many hunters do it; with little thought to it's unsportsman-like behaviour.

15. Maybe it is unethical

But every calorie spent must be compensated for. They'll either do it by killing more deer or by eating grains (raised by deforestation and modern agriculture, which kills massive amounts of deer and is destroying the earth). So while unethical, it is also efficient, and may have less of an aggregate environmental impact. Who really knows anymore.

The first nations use nets to catch salmon where I live. It certainly seems like the most efficient manner to collect the food, especially compared to how I do it. I can't blame em.

That's illegal. But why does that matter it will still be blamed on all gun owners yes?

And would it change the gun debate for some of the apple fans here.

17. Would an iGun's "Death Grip" malfunction mean that the gun would work

or that it wouldn't?

Perhaps it will have Siri taunt you if you miss your target.

(After the first miss)
Siri: "If that deer were any closer, it might have stolen your wallet".

(After the second miss)
Siri: "I've found 5 optometrists within 10 miles"

(After the third miss)
Siri: "Perhaps fishing is your thing"

18. Google KAC BulletfFlight (iphone app)... it's a tactical application for sniping.

Basically, it does all the match and everything that that scope in the OP does (calculates long distance shot placement). All the user does is input the environment and target data, hit calculate, and the app tells the shooter what the shot will do and where to aim. KAC even makes a handy little rugged tactical mount to turn the Iphone into a cool little heads-up display. And this was developed several years ago - old news.

16. So now people are complaining about bolt-action rifles?

It's a .338 bolt action rifle with a fancy scope. Even Feinstein is not stupid enough to try and ban bolt action rifles with scopes. It does have a nice AAC Muzzlebrake for a nice silencer.
