One Hungry Little Mouse!

http://www.diamondrescue.org/cute-pictures/one-hungry-little-mouse

?height=335&width=400

The extraordinary scene was captured by photography student Casey Gutteridge at the Santago Rare Leopard Project in Hertfordshire.
The 19-year-old, from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, who was photographing the leopard for a course project, was astounded by the mouse's behaviour.

He said: 'I have no idea where the mouse came from - he just appeared in the enclosure after the keeper had dropped in the meat for the leopard.

'He didn't take any notice of the leopard, just went straight over to the meat and started feeding himself.

'But the leopard was pretty surprised - she bent down and sniffed the mouse and flinched a bit like she was scared.

As long as they keep feeding the leopard, he should be fine.

Thus our dogs think all rats are pets, even the nasty vermin roof rats that chew on stuff in the garage. Whenever our dogs see them it's like, "Hey rat, what's your name? Let's play!!!"

It's really hard for me. On one hand I want a dog that kills rats, on the other hand I don't.

Fortunately the population of roof rats has been much reduced lately. Our local predatory birds, falcons and owls, took fancy to the roof rats visiting our bird feeder.

Our bird feeder is like a predatory bird MacDonald's. Fast food for them, especially ring-necked doves, which are big and not native. But the main reason we have a bird feeder is to attract birds that eat garden pests when they get bored with the seeds.

The rabbit has never shown any sign of fear and that totally freaks out the border collie (read: wolf). That seems to be what's going on in those pictures - WTF?

13. There's a parasite that affects mice

It gets into the mouse's brain and makes them fearless.

The parasite replicates in cats. Mice are carriers. The fearlessness leads to the mouse being eaten, infecting the cat. Makes me wonder if this mouse had it.

Maybe the mouse and the leopard were friends or roommates at the zoo.

according to that wikipedia article, the parasite causes the mice to be attracted to the scent of cats!

Rescued him from the pound, best guess was he was half German Shepherd and half Golden. He was big but gentle as a lamb. One time my daughter's hampster got out of the cage. Couldn't find it anywhere. Later we found it, Bailey was holding it on the floor licking and licking it. Poor creature was scared but fine (though pretty wet).

This picture reminds me of that.

24. If you give a mouse a cookie
Thu Jan 26, 2012, 10:57 AM

If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk. If you give a mouse some milk, he'll want some more. If you give a mouse more milk...he'll develop a taste for human blood. If he develops a taste for human blood, he'll become a vampire. If he becomes a vampire, he'll have to make some followers. Now, if he makes some followers, they will need to feed. If they feed too much, the National Guard will be called out. If the National Guard is called out, they too will become fodder for the vampires. If the National Guard fails, the President will call in a nuclear strike. If a nuke is dropped, hundreds of thousands of people will die! America will become a nuclear wasteland and collapse! With no one to keep the rest of world's nukes in check, every crackpot nation will launch their own! Eventually, the entire Earth will be destroyed! ...And that's why I had to kill daddy. He was giving a mouse a cookie. Hmm-hmm. Sleep well, sweetie.
