(What would have been) a political argument gets derailed.

On Saturday I was in the lobby of a business that has those Guns Banned in This Facility signs that were the concession prize for allowing conceal and carry to commence in Minnesota a few years ago.

A guy comes in and demands of the people behind the counter "what do you have against guns!"

Stunned and not sure what the guy meant at first, the person behind the counter eventually replied that it was company policy to put up those signs and knew no more.

The man proceeded to expound that businesses that have posted these signs have "all taken them down" because "checked, trained and tested" gun carriers, like him, had "passed all that was required" and would either ignore the signs or take their business elsewhere. How DARE they post those signs!

I wanted to engage the guy, because he was lecturing uninhibited to the whole room and seemed to think that the company should immediately change it's policy because he said so.

But.... and I have never been in this situation before..... he had identified himself as a gun carrier and given his pocket a little pat. That made me and probably everyone else in the room tense and concerned with merely getting through the situation. Say: Yes, sir. I don't know sir. I have no opinion, sir until he finished and left the room.

He won. He will always win with one little pat to his pocket! He will never face defending his views again because we are all hard-wired to be afraid of an angry guy patting his gun.

What a luxury! He wins. Everytime.

For the power it gives them. Other reasons:

1) alleviate the pants-pissing fear they have any time they're called upon to go anywhere but the safety of the space under their bed without their Precious

2) pull a Rambo and be acclaimed as a Mighty Warrior by all

3) overthrow the gov't

2. Police should have been called

for threatening.

That, alone, is grounds for gun license revocation. And banned from ever owning guns again.

And the best argument against that whole "Armed society is a polite society" bullshit.

An armed society is a frightened society.

...or an accountant on his day off.

This country's white males have been has been so radicalized!

White, middle class guy with glasses feels he needs to be all weaponed-up 24/7 - and feels affronted and deprived because the Minn. legislature left 1 tiny little situation where he might have to be deprived for 4 minutes of the damned thing.

That my friends, is mental illness.

It's private property and they had every right to refuse to allow firearms in the lobby.

For me it was: just let him do his monologue and leave.
He did and then he did.

Quickest resolution possible, I think.
