shooting downhill was commented on the news.

There is no where in this land where you can be safe from bullets! The gun nuts have taken over and we are living in an automated version of the wild wild west.

In my town, target shooting is legal on one's own property, even if their property line abuts his neighbor's home and for some reason he likes harassing him by shooting off black powder guns next to it. Some residents do not go into their back yards when a neighbor is shooting because of the inherent danger of being inadvertently shot.

In areas laid out in the Case Western Reserve System, it's a 6 mile x 6mile square area. Sometimes called townships, sometimes referred to as towns (as is true in Wisconsin).

My 'town', Town of Jefferson, in central Jefferson County, WI and the immediately surrounding towns (Farmington, Sullivan, Hebron) all allow hunting and target shooting that complies with other laws and rule. There are state laws, county and township ordinances that limit how close firearm use can occur relative to buildings, roads, and waterways. Exurban subdivisions and enclaves of McMansions are areas where shooting is formally prohibited.

These yahoos were shooting without a safe backstop. And some towns have ordinances against shooting within town limits (I'm not familiar with the area in this article, so I don't know what their ordinances are).

Where I live (rural/way out in the sticks / Down South), there are *no regs against shooting anytime. You can hear gunfire around our area almost any day. We plink away-- but we have a *safe backstop before doing so.

You can't fix stupid.
