8 hours every night when she was allegedly in the hospital dying of cancer? I don't know how snookered that player actually was. We'll see, though. I also put nothing past Notre Dame's head coach either. I had a nasty run-in with him several years ago while we were both employed at the same university and he went off on a Native American high school student who was touring the campus. There was absolutely no excuse for it. It was disgusting and of course there were no repercussions.

assorted BS. Was the press just making everything up? If so why didn't Te'o set the record straight about not actually meeting her? His culpability appears to go pretty deep, but I'm not gullible--I was raised by a cop.

anything pass him either. Of course I had way to much respect for my dad to cross him. LOL But I sure don't expect people to play these kind of sick games. Even if he were on in the joke. It is sick.

breed of soldier. Well my dad died back in 1970. He would have been 50. Died to young. I sure miss both my parents. He was the best pop a kid could have. All the neighbor kids would come over and ask if he could come out and play. LOL and he would get us all together across the street in an empty field all ages and we played softball. Lots of fun.

I still feel cheated out of years with him, though, because my grandparents both lived well into their 90's, and my great grandmother died at age 101 and great grandfather at 102. They were a very special breed, that's for sure.

graduates high school. But it is in god's hands. I feel sad because my parents had the first 4 kids then 10 yr with no kids then they had 2 more late in life. My youngest sister was 11 and my brother was 4 when our father died. My youngest brother had such a hard time with his death at such a young age. I don't think he ever got over it. Then our mother died of a heart attack right in front of him. I think that did it. My youngest brother died at the age of 39. Just a few days before his 40th birthday. He died of lung cancer. He never smoked a day in his life. I think his death has effected me very much I remember going to the hospital with my dad to pick them up and them bring home.

So the fuck what?

This story has NOTHING to do with Southerners or Northerners - even prejudiced Northerners who paint all Southerners with a broad brush. This is about a guy who plays for Notre Dame who lied about a dying girlfriend to get Heisman votes.

As many have noted, the mass hysteria over Notre Dame football star Manti Te’o’s fake, dead girlfriend makes now a good time to remember Lizzy Seeberg, the real woman who committed suicide after reporting her sexual assault by another Notre Dame player in 2010.
