All the right wingers that want an armed guard or armed teacher in the schools are idiots.

I mean seriously. How many rooms are in a school?

What are the odds that the one armed person in the school is going to be in the exact spot that a shooter is. It's just plain stupid.
Someone could take out two classrooms before the one "good guy" with a gun even knows something is going on.

And don't pretend that knowing someone is armed in a school is a deterrent. These people kill themselves anyway, I'm quite sure they wouldn't mind if someone else killed them instead.

It's the dumbest solution out there... and I live in Texas and listen to right wing radio everyday in my car(it's my only option).
I don't understand why not even one caller has brought up the odds of this ever working.

It's more likely that a disturbed student will find out who has the gun and get it and use it to shoot someone than it is that it will ever be used to take out a school shooter.

Freakin idiots... just needed to get that out instead of screaming it in my car to myself.

It's been a long time since I saw that movie, but I think everything turned out super terrific. So a robo-cop in every classroom, will surely be a good idea.

the idea of armed guards and police in schools has a lot of support in theory from average americans, just because it was a NRA proposal doesn't mean it isn't a popular idea.

Having a police officer at the school allows the police to respond more quickly.

True, one police officer can't be everywhere. It's impossible. But seconds count and having a police officer at the schools can mobilize a response faster.

Both my kid's high schools have Resource Officers. It's been that way for several years at all our county high schools. Nothing negative has happened.

I'd rather have professionally trained police officers than arming teachers and janitors or having rent-a-cop roaming the halls.

You've made some excellent points, I completely agree. I've read a ton of posts on this site and It's nice to read a post that is filled with commonsense. Our high school also have Resource Officers, who are stationed inside and outside the school. The community voted on including the officers in the budget a few years ago, and folks overwhelmingly supported it.

I'm proud to live in a state like New York, who doesn't follow , but lead. We also just passed some of the strictest gun laws in the country. I'm so glad we don't have to wait for the guys in Washington to figure things out and try to come to an agreement. Folks from all backgrounds have worked together to do what's best for our community. We've rubbed shoulders with parents who belong to the NRA and parents like myself and my hubby, who are very anti-gun.. But we all agreed that the safety of our children should come before anything. Which is why we voted to allow the officers at the school. The two officers are on a first name basis with many of the students and have stopped fights before they began, responded to fender benders and have even paid for lunch for kids who forgot their money. Anyway... thanks again for your most excellent comment.

the schools in our city have had one policeman each for a few years now, and its worked fine. I asked both of my daughters what they thought about them - they said it was no problem, it was nice to know they were there, and the officers were pretty nice.

What's wrong with those assholes - just when you think you have heard it all from them, all the nuttery and crazyshit possible - they stick their hands up their asses and pull out more delights like this.

How can this be happening? wtf? Who is really behind all this treachery?

They are in the cafeteria with lunch ladies. They are on the playground with TA's. Have a teacher with their gun on their hips posted at all times in these places too? How would a armed security guard be in all these places at the same time?

I worked with ED 5th graders with criminal records. One tried to kill his Grandma when he was 11 years old. Keep a gun anywhere NEAR kids like this?
