Crist Leads Scott by Double-Digits in Florida
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Florida finds Charlie Crist (D) would handily beat Rick Scott (R) in a race for governor, 53% to 39%.
Key findings: Scott's approval rating is just 33%, with 57% of voters disapproving of him. Crist meanwhile is being embraced by Democrats with 52% of primary voters saying they'd like Crist to be their candidate next year.

(10,942 posts)If republicans continue their extreme political bent, Florida will move more toward democrats. One big change in the state are young Cubans, who as a group don't vote like their parents and grandparents. Plus recent Hispanic groups and Asian groups vote heavily democratic because of their concern about the hateful policies that republicans push in regards to them.

(1,127 posts)the legislature's plans to defund our unions. Today Scott's 3% cut to our pay was approved by the state court. I hope every teacher, fireman, and police vote in the next election.

(7,515 posts)It's a sign of just how far right the GOP has moved that Crist is now a Democrat. I didn't vote for him in 2004, but he was not a bad governor. If he seeks the nomination, I will vote for him in the primary because the Democratic Party here in FL is in a shambles. He will not be a "progressive" but he will be a moderate Dem and that's the best we can hope for in FL. If he wins, he could be the model for other moderate Dems in currently Red led states.

(7,596 posts)Since he was a Republican at the time, I didn't vote for him but I did vote for him when he became an Independent and ran for the Senate in 2010. I agree that he was a pretty good governor for a Republican and certainly wouldn't complain if he were to come back, especially considering the jackass that's running the state now.
