American Airlines debuts new livery! What do you think?

Oh hey, American Airlines you’re looking different these days. Did you do something to your fuselage? Is that a new logo you’re sporting? The airline is treating itself to a revamped look for its fleet of planes, the first makeover it’s done to its exteriors since 1968, including an updated logo as part of the paint job.

The planes’ new ‘do, or livery as its called in the industry, is partly a result of its newer jets. Those jets include composite materials that can’t be polished like the current aluminum fuselages are, notes USA Today.

1. It's a bit brash but why not grab the USA USA look before someone

else does. After all they went through with 9/11 they are the most identified with USA USA anyway.

The two airlines just might be merging, in which case the livery might have to be changed again.

4. Years ago

...my uncle who worked for an airline said that United and others were toning down on the American flag theme & colors on the tail as it made them very recognizable as an American plane. I was told that there was no need to make them a bigger target than they already were.
