was a kid, we used to get some pretty good snow every year. At school on recess we'd really go to town building snowmen and forts!

I ran a dairy route and one day just after a meager snowfall I was delivering to my old grade school. I pulled up right as recess started and had to wait outside the fence. I had to drive accross their playground asphalt to get to the kitchen door and couldn't during recess.

Those poor kids literally had every scrap of useable snow rolled up by the time recess was over! No doubt they had a good start in the morning before school. There was a collection of sad looking dirty snowmen and little forts made from snow they rolled up with leaves and twigs all in it.

We were never a really huge snow area but we used to at least get a couple good snowfalls back in the 70's. Then you'd have most of a week anyway before a warm spell and it melted. Then we'd get another chance at it before winter was gone. Right now we have snow on the ground. It's probably acceptable at the higher parts of the valley but this is unusual. Global warming or not, something is way different from when I was a kid.
