What cherrypicking the Delicate Flowers do!
Obama used the word "legitimate", which you dropped from your post. Just like how Delicate Flowers drop "well-regulated" whenever they whine about the 2nd Amendment.
hack89
(39,171 posts)what difference does it make? He is saying an individual right to own guns is a legitimate right.

(5,436 posts)Of why Tom Tomorrow invented the phrase. Thanks for showing his work wasn't in vain.

(23,926 posts)Although surely you wouldn't have objected to a continued portrayal of yourself as the insanely clever devil who coined that phrase, would you?
And FYI, I probably agree with you on 95% of the Second Amendment/gun issues. I just think you are one piss-poor spokesman for the cause.

(5,436 posts)I always acknowledged it came from Tom Tomorrow whenever there was whinging from the Delicates about it.

Never claimed to be a spokesman. Just expressing my opinion on things, like the cowardly paranoia that grips Delicate Flowers.

(5,436 posts)Nice try at spin!
Here is the quote: ""The 2nd amendment protects a legitimate individual right"
That in no way shape or form is equivalent to "an individual right to own guns is a legitimate right." Not in the SLIGHTEST.
He is stating that the 2nd amendment protects a (legal) individual right. If you doubt that, there are plenty of online dictionaries to look up what the word "legitimate" means.
Now, what makes something legal or not? The laws that govern it - as in GUN CONTROL (BOO!) laws.

(39,171 posts)I support regulation. I support all of the President's EOs plus universal background checks and limits on high cap mag.
The president is saying you don't have to be in a militia to own guns.
So what is your point exactly?
bongbong
(5,436 posts)> So what is your point exactly?
My point is that I caught your spin - your reinterpretation of what the President said. Just like when you spin "you're safer now than ever before" into "guns make you safer"

Do you think the president thinks otherwise?
What the president said is clear, and you tried to change it.
That trick doesn't work at DU.

(19,459 posts)it reminds me of some more recent variant of the anti-tank rifles produced during WWII. Possibly the Lahti L-39, a 20 mm anti-tank rifle produced by Finland.

EDIT: Yeah...looking at the two again, I suspect it is some version of the Finnish L-39. I wonder where he gets ammo for that thing?

No constitution amendment is absolute, like the other guy probably thinks it is. That is why there are college courses and degrees for it.
