It pisses me off that this idea gets ZERO discussion anymore...Back in '01-'02, both sides at least used to talk about it...

and you need 2/3 in each house of Congress plus 3/4 of the states all voting for it.


This is a political impossibility. To many states, and their representatives, would need to vote to reduce their own influence in picking our President. This will never happen.

I am not going to argue the merits, the fact remains that changing it is impossible (in any practical sense).
