I watched the Watergate Hearings -- fiercely, fiercely -- and of all the legislators who spoke I admired Senator Dan Inouye and Congresswoman Barbara Jordan most of all. Along with many others, I had hoped she would attain some national office, but she retired from politics without publicizing her illness.

4. Charlie Haden and Liberation Music Orchestra

I heard it in concert live, and have the album ("Not in Our Name&quot ... It's a medley of America the Beautiful (played in a very dissonant way—this was during the Bush years, and it was a political statement), combined with (woven in) the most moving, beautiful rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing I think I've ever heard.

Unfortunately, I can't find a video or audio online. Perhaps because it referred to a very specific moment in time, which is past (and because the Liberation Orchestra is only convened during such times), it has been removed. If you ever get a hold of this album, though, I highly recommend it. But I'm a big Charlie Haden fan.

- they are a great hidden talent that I think many of us have heard at some point but we just don't realize it. Would love an opportunity to see them perform in person.
