Fifteen year old kills five in Albuquerque New Mexico

A teenage boy has been charged with the murders of two adults and three children allegedly shooting all five dead inside a home in New Mexico, in the latest shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre.

The boy, who local media reported as 15-years-old, was arrested following the shootings which took place on Saturday night.

A man, a woman, two girls and a boy were found dead inside the house in South Valley, near the state's largest city Albuquerque.

Several weapons, including an assault rifle, were found at the scene, the local media reported.

Each victim suffered more than one gunshot wound.

Investigators also were seeking to determine who owned several guns that were found at the home, one of which was a semi-automatic military-style rifle.

We had one of those about five years ago in our county. College-age boy killed his family (and dog) and burned the house down around them. I think he was an Eagle Scout enrolled at Baylor (Baptist) University. I think he had hooked up with some drug dealers and killed them for money. He's serving life in prison.

On edit: not finding anything about drugs in online review of local newspapers. Also, he stabbed them while they slept and when he overpowered them as they awakened.

?? Where has this paper been? There've been close to 1,000 shooting deaths in the last month, several of them "attempts at multiples".

That may seem an insulting question, but it genuinely seems you think they wrote 'first', judging by the reast of your post.

...though if you count it as a "mass killing", that gets to be the latest for about 5 days, on average.

in that line.

"Latest since…"

…the Lincoln Assassination

…the Battle of Hastings

…the Big Bang

So it was natural to get misled. In fact, I took it the same way on first reading.

Nothing is more sacred than our right to have as many guns as we want. Even if it means more and more dead children.

Officials have identified one of the five people found shot to death in a New Mexico home as a Fire Department chaplain who also worked with jail inmates.

Metropolitan Detention Center Chief Ramon Rustin says Griego volunteered at the jail for 13 years and was instrumental in the creation of its chaplain program.

Peter Gomez, a 54-year-old carpenter who lives about 200 yards from the home, said he saw police vehicles and ambulances arrive Saturday night.

Gomez said he doesn't know the family that lives at the house, but he has seen a married couple and their two boys and two girls from time to time.

"It's a horrible thing," Gomez said. "You see all this stuff that happens all over the country, the shootings in the schools and theaters, and then it happens right here. It's sad."

A 15-year-old boy remained in custody as detectives tried to piece together what led to the shooting of his parents and three of their children who were found dead in a New Mexico home.

The teenager was arrested on murder and other charges in connection with the shootings, which happened Saturday night at the home in a rural area southwest of downtown Albuquerque, said Lt. Sid Covington, a sheriff's spokesman, on Sunday.

Authorities identified the victims late Sunday as Greg Griego, 51, his wife Sara Griego, 40, and three of their children: a 9-year-old boy, Zephania Griego, and daughters Jael Griego, 5, and Angelina Griego, 2. The suspect was identified as Nehemiah Griego.

Isn't that how gun nutters rationalize things like this? Or are we still blaming video games, music, and comic books?
