Congratulations Mr. President from DU

Per the DU home page there have been 199,939 user registrations and 61,112,736 posts since 2001. Let's take some time today and tomorrow to wish our President the very best and to commit our support toward a forward thinking administration. Yes, I know we don't all agree with him or with his policies or even with his actions in regard to... oh so many things. Yet, of the 199,939 recorded registrations, SOMEBODY did something to work against the CEO for President mentality that the Republicans have put forth.

I live in the great state of Michigan. We have a Republican Governor, House, Senate and soon to be Supreme Court. Unless you haven't been paying attention, I don't need to remind all of you that Michigan and its voter choices have been severely compromised in the past two years. Many of you live in other locale and have not experienced the, 'run the gov't like a business' mentality that we are currently undergoing.

You don't want to. Its not fun.

So for President Obama, Vice President Biden and for all of the 199,939 registered users, not losers, that have worked, contributed and sacrificed to see this day in history when a 2nd Black American administration is beginning-take a bow.

Congratulations Mr. President and thank you for your service.

Things aren't exactly great here, though we do have a Democratic governor, senators (one who was my former congresswoman! ) and a Democratic congressman again. Despite that, I live in a pretty red district. *sigh*

And I'm a grateful 10 year member of DU...

Were it not for the change to "News" for profit, we'd have no trouble tossing aside failed and damaging business models which have turned practically the entire globe into third world states. We're next. Romney made it clear in his 47% video. We can never replay that part about Chinese factories enough.

Meanwhile, we have to hope our president can out maneuver a very ignorant and dangerous Republican Party. And he doesn't get the back-up he needs owing to our number of gun zealots in the Democratic Party. I believe the push to proper gun regulation and oversight with "teetch", essential now as well as a heavy push for the Public Option in Obamacare.

If we can get the message out past the news media, we may get someplace good.

Good luck Mr. President. We're here for back-up.

Plus two Democratic senators, and all but one Democratic congressperson (sadly I'm in his district). Our Supreme Court is non-partisan, but as a whole, they are fair-minded and progressive. Lots of wacky right-wingers over here east of the Cascades, but I am grateful to be a resident of this beautiful state. I have watched Michigan and other states' political chaos, and must say it makes me feel more than awful.

Thank you for giving us DUers the chance to congratulate our President. We are fortunate indeed to have him at the helm!
