. . . I thought this might bring some perspective and comity to the criticisms. She seems like a thoughtful (and talented) woman. I'll admit, she turned my head around when she belted out that anthem. Powerful stuff!

In fact, I would rather have to listen to her sing "My Country Tis of Thee" again, rather than be forced to listen to Beyonce singing the national anthem. Beyonce started out fine, but then she started with the damn "embellishments", and that ruined it for me. Why, oh why can't people just sing that song straight out, without all the warbling, singing the wrong notes, or holding them too long? See Whitney Houston at the Super Bowl to see how it's done right. Musically, it's an awful song. Why do people insist on making it worse?

I like to hear as close to the original tune as possible, too. Neat, tho, however their performance turns out, to see these young folks gifting us with their impressions of these anthems which have been so cherished (and so embellished by countless others) throughout our nation's history.

These contemporary icons' appearance helps closer connect the emerging generation, I think, with our stalwart, democratic establishment in a way that invites ownership and a closer affinity to these representations of our government.

@kelly_clarkson: Maybe the coolest photo I've ever been in ....ever

Also:

@kelly_clarkson: Me and B just hangin' out ....don't worry about it. Seriously, God did good. She is so beautiful!

Room for 2 talents.

was based on his tenet of limited government. That has an appeal to a lot of people on the surface. When you carry it to his extreme, it isn't pretty.
She backtracked when apprised of his views on gays and other issues. She isn't the first or the last person to not look below the surface. At least she admitted her mistake. She has been a strong supporter of gay rights.
