Scott Lively: Gays and liberals shredded the Magna Carta and now they're after the 1st Amendment

Pastor Scott Lively has republished a column warning that “the First Amendment is under siege” by the gay rights movement which seeks “to crush (civil rights) under the heels of its pink jackboots.” Lively, best known for his work promoting Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill, said that the Constitution is the only document "still standing as a barrier to the homosexual agenda” and that “true human rights will be finished in America (and by extension the rest of the western world)” if “the First Amendment falls to the ‘gays.’”

Moreover, this "right to sodomy" actually undermines true human rights, as exemplified by the collapse of the Magna Charta in the United Kingdom. The first principle of that venerable human rights document declares that "The English Church shall be free." This principle, established in the bedrock of British jurisprudence in 1215, stood unshakable for nearly 800 years until the rise of the "gay" movement which has in just the past decade achieved the power to redefine religious liberty as "homophobia" and to crush it under the heels of its pink jackboots.

My friends, understand the gravity of what I am saying. If the First Amendment falls to the “gays” like the Magna Charta did, true human rights will be finished in America (and by extension the rest of the western world). There is no fall-back position. The First Amendment is the last bastion of freedom for Christians. If it fails, serious persecution of all who dare to speak the truth of the Bible will follow close behind. Pray fervently that it will stand!

Lively couldn't be more wrong if he tried or he is just a plain liar.

The part about the English Church being free is still a part of English Law to this day. So right off the bat Scott is not only wrong about the Magna Carta being done away with, the very part he mentions is still around.

The Magna Carta was a great document... at the time. It had no protections for those who were not freemen. Parts of the Magna Carta were done away with, not in the last decade, but as far back as the 1800's, because you know, everyone is a freeman now. I don't know why Scott is so up in arms about that... unless he wants some people to be serfs again.

Another thing the International Gay and Liberal Conspiracy did with their replacing parts of the Magna Carta with newer and crazy laws was get rid of defense of the clergy, members of the clergy could practically do anything except commit murder or witchcraft and simply say that they were a member of the clergy and it was an actual defense and they would be acquitted. Persecution in the eyes of Scott Lively? He would like something like that.

Lively loses out to the truth.

Of course the difference between Robin Williams and Scott Lively is that Williams is hilarious where Lively is just a hateful bigot.

If you follow any of the right wings anti-marriage equality propaganda they all have been harping on how recognizing the rights of LGBT couples and families will somehow take away their religious liberty. They will be forced to treat LGBT people like all other people! How dare LGBT people want that - somehow being treated as an equal by the government is against their religion, and somehow takes their right to treat us as second class citizens in the public square away.

It makes no sense or logic, but thats what happens with a movement when its falling apart and losing its power.

Being an open bigot against other races and religions is dying out as being acceptable positions to take in public as White Male Rule wanes in this country, hating Gays is their last gasp at stirring up hatred.

I love how these so-called 'pastors' always find room for hate in their religion.

Scott probably gets his 'history' from the History Channel.

The Magna Carta was originally used by feudal barons, in an attempt to limit the powers of the king by law and protect their privileges! IOW, it was the plutocracy of old trying to make sure their greedy asses were not plundered by the king!

Of course most people will never know that or at one time there were 3 Popes and they all had illegitimate children.

The Crusades - nothing to do with religion and everything to do with keeping the bored, rich feudal barons (sound familiar) at bay from killing eachother and perhaps the Court system as well.

The fact that we got some trickle down common laws from it, is just lucky happenstance imo.

LOL, well not exactly , however please read my analysis of his statement which he has put up on his blog- republished pending his trip to Oxford union where he has been given a speaking engagement. They invited the devil and the devil they shall receive -

What makes this particular insidious is the fact that he has drummed up an argument, which he plans to flaunt on his Oxford audience, to elucidate sympathy for his cause. He truly believes that if he can draw the Magna Carta and its demise into the frame and attach it to is notion of how the Declaration of Human Rights should be perceived, then he can make the justification for his designed persecution of gays in Uganda. All the while we see clearly how the man has twisted history to vilify gays, while making it seem that he and Christianity are the victims.

There is nothing here to be attacked. In a way, it upholds peoples right to be what they are.
